Chapter 1 Introduction
For geezerhood there has been talk about low course session scores, or falling language scores or just difficulty students are having with comprehending. Many students are reading, but are not retaining the information they have read because they have not acquired the straightlaced literacy skills. Currently, I am a Head Start teacher in Georgia. I have been in that position for the noncurrent nine years. After thinking back to a conference I previously had with a Pre-Kindergarten teacher about her students taking hold information on a higher level than mine, it caused a bell to go off.
As I thought about these many problems I see in my experience of teaching, I noticed a problem that I see repeatedly. Many students are struggling academically because they are not reading on grade level. I feel that it is imperative that students are able to read and be academically successful. I intrust there are many reasons why students have difficulty reading and succeeding in school.
My study will focus on three main questions.
