Young girls starve, purge, put on unreasonable amounts of make-up, and wear clothes that are unfitting in night club to be viewed “acceptable” by society. It’s a pitiful and dangerous problem, and it’s happening all around us to girls of every age group. Girls are being influenced this way at younger and younger ages as time progresses. Both the metrical composition “Barbie Doll” by Marge Piercy and song “Barbie Girl” by Aqua represent this issue.

In Piercys meter, a girl tries as hard as she can to change herself in night club to make others uniform her, unaware that she is beautiful the way she is.
